Gold Recognition for Newborn Screening Excellence

Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) has been awarded Gold Recognition by the Kansas Newborn Screening Program for excellence in newborn screening services during the 2024 calendar year. The recognition highlights CCMC’s outstanding performance in Collection Age, Hearing Screening, and Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) Screening.

The Kansas Newborn Screening Program, in partnership with the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Midwives Alliance, recently announced its fourth annual recognition awards, honoring midwives, hospitals, and screening facilities across the state that demonstrate exceptional quality, reporting accuracy, and timeliness in newborn screening services.

Facilities earn recognition by meeting or exceeding state-established goals or averages in key screening categories, including CCHD screening, hearing screening, collection age, transit time, and unsatisfactory rates for metabolic and genetic screening. More than 50 healthcare facilities and midwives statewide were honored for their performance in 2024.

“This recognition reflects the dedication, attention to detail, and teamwork of our OB team,” said OB Director Casity Dozler. “Early and accurate newborn screening plays a critical role in identifying potential health concerns and ensuring babies receive timely care. We are proud to provide this level of quality for the families we serve.”

Newborn screening is a vital public health service that helps identify serious but treatable conditions shortly after birth, supporting healthier outcomes for Kansas newborns and peace of mind for families.

This Gold Recognition underscores CCMC’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and to delivering high-quality, compassionate care for patients at every stage of life.
