Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is excited to announce the return of its Teddy Bear Clinics, an engaging and educational event designed for local kindergarten students. This initiative aims to familiarize young children with the hospital environment in a fun and interactive way, helping to ease any anxieties they may have about medical care.
During the Teddy Bear Clinic, children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animals to the hospital for a special experience. Upon arrival, the young participants will go through a series of stations, mirroring a real patient’s journey through medical care:
Emergency Room Admission: Each stuffed animal will be “admitted” to the ER, where vital signs will be taken by healthcare professionals.
Radiology: The teddy bears and other stuffed companions will receive an X-ray, allowing children to see inside their cuddly friends.
Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center: Kids will engage in a fun physical activity session, promoting the importance of staying active and healthy.
Dining Room Finale: The event will conclude with a snack in the hospital’s dining room, ensuring a delightful and memorable experience.
“Our Teddy Bear Clinics are a fantastic way to introduce children to the hospital setting in a positive and engaging manner,” said Bryce Dolan, Development and Foundation Director at CCMC. “We want to create a welcoming experience that helps young children feel more comfortable with healthcare professionals while also teaching them about the importance of health and wellness.”
The Teddy Bear Clinics have been a cherished tradition at CCMC, and the hospital is thrilled to bring them back for the community’s young members. These events not only provide a playful and hands-on learning opportunity but also strengthen the connection between local families and the healthcare team at CCMC.
