Susan D. Thompson, MD
Dr. Thompson received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Marion College, Indiana, now known as Indiana University. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1985. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. After residency, Dr. Thompson practiced typical family medicine in Plattsburg, Missouri and moved her practice to Clay Center in 1994.
Dr T's passion has always been maternity care and delivery. "There is no greater joy in medicine than sharing the moment a new life joins a family", says Dr. Thompson. She offers personal maternity care - one woman to another, nuturing the new life within. Dr. Thompson is taking new patients for maternity care.
Since December 2010, Dr. Thompson has made nine trips to Haiti to bring medical education and clinical care to a remote mountainous area that previously had no access. She intends to spend more time pursuing this ministry in coming years. Her mission work includes assistance in the establishment of a clinic to serve a population of approximately 50,000 mountain residents. She will be teaching traditional midwives, and community health care workers, and providing medical services to Haitians of five communities 20 minutes to 2 ½ hours walking distance from the site.
