Healthy Employee Month

The Wellness Committee at CCMC recognizes the workplace’s role in helping to create healthy employees. They’ve decided to nominate a CCMC employee as the ‘Healthy Kansas Hospitals Employee of the Month’. In November, the spotlight is on Yvonne Bartley.

How and when did you start training?

I’ve been active all my life. I started consistently working out 7 years ago.

How do you stay motivated?

The benefits of avoiding prescription medications, increased energy and stamina, a more positive attitude.

Any advice for beginners getting into fitness?

Be realistic with goals then push yourself. Sometimes it can be challenging to make exercise fit into your scheduled so be creative. Your health is important.

What is your diet like?

I eat healthy about 50 percent of the time. Something I could improve on. Otherwise, I keep it simple. Grilled beef or chicken, spinach and grapes or spinach and pineapple salads, apples and celery or almonds for snacks.

What is your favorite healthy food?

Pomegranate - sweet and crunchy.

In regard to workouts, can you give us an overview of your typical week?

I exercise 30 minutes for 3-4 mornings a week and 30-45 minutes 3-4 days a week at lunch.

What is your greatest achievement so far?

I like feeling energized and not limited in what I want to do physically.
